  • One channel Hum Bug formerly from Quest Scientific

  • Simple 50/60 Hz sine waves

  • Mixture of 50/60 Hz harmonics

  • Mains noise spikes from dimmers

  • Complex mains noise from fluorescent lamps

  • No waveform distortion

November 22, 2021 - Digitimer Ltd., Welwyn Garden City, England, acquires Quest Scientific Instruments, Inc. “Quest” formerly located in North Vancouver, Canada.

For nearly 20 years, Quest has been known for their very effective Hum Bug AC mains noise eliminator. Researchers worldwide depend on the Quest Hum Bug to help deliver clean analog research results from EMG, EEG, EKG, etc. recordings and other experiments. The one channel Hum Bug is NOT a filter. It does not create phase delays, amplitude errors, DC shifts, or waveform distortion. Therefore, the resulting signals after eliminating the 60Hz mains noise (including harmonics) are in their truest form.

60Hz Mains noise is eliminated without altering the signal of interest even when frequencies within the signal overlap the mains noise components. There is no need to set or adjust the Hum Bug. It, intelligently, constructs a replica of mains noise present on the input signal and continuously subtracts this replica from the signal. The Hum Bug’s design constantly updates as mains noise characteristics evolve. The Hum Bug is very effective at removing mains noise associated with inadequate grounding, ground loops, and electrical pick up. Now, with the acquisition, Digitimer adds the Hum Bug to its newly developed and available D400 two and four (and soon to be eight) channel 60Hz mains noise eliminator devices to their manufacturing operation in the UK for local distribution worldwide. Research laboraties now have a one, two, and four channel Hum Bug option. The Hum Bug acquisition rounds out Digitimer’s broader product offerings of electrophysiological stimulators, amplifiers, signal conditioners, and other time tested and trusted research instrumentation.

About Us

Digitimer North America has been exclusively distributing and supporting Digitimer products for over 30 years. In fact, roots between Digitimer North America and Digitimer products go back more than 50 years to when Medical Systems Corporation (Greenvale, NY) sold and supported the Digitimer NeuroLog and D185 systems and other research-based products both as a distributor and manufacturer. Medical Systems Corporation evolved into MEPs, LLC, a Ft. Lauderdale based distributor of Digitimer products, and, in November of 2016, MEPs officially changed its name to Digitimer North America, LLC. Today, Digitimer North America is equipped to handle prompt delivery of all Digitimer products, provides timely local support, and is proud to have Digitimer products installed and in use in the top research centers, universities, and hospitals in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
